We Chose to go to the moon-

Visual Essay

I created a visual essay to an audio excerpt from John F Kennedy's "We chose to go to the moon speech" which was delivered in 1963. The goal of this speech was to booster support for the space effort. I let 1960's print design influence the style of the video. I wanted to set the project in space to connect to JFK’s goal of going to the moon. I utilized pan transitions and slower animation to create a drift that is reminiscent of the weightlessness of space. I included nods to facts and people connecting to the apollo missions as we are able to look back on this speech and recognize that the USA did achieve JFK's goal of reaching the moon by the end of the 1960s.
